One Piece final trailer
One Piece has only just landed on Netflix but many are already wondering about more seasons of the show, which is adapted from the highly successful manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda.
The manga first hit shelves in Japan back in 1997 and has been going strong ever since then with no signs of slowing down.
The comics spawned an anime which started airing in 1999 and is also currently still on screens.
Will there a season 2 of One Piece?
In an exclusive interview with One Piece directors Emma Sullivan and Marc Jobst, both shared their hopes for the future of the show.
Sullivan, who helmed episodes three and four said: “At the end of this series they all make a barrel pledge and they are off to The Grand Line, where more adventures happen, and I think we should go. I think we should go The Grand Line.

“I think we should go to all these islands and see what happens next.”
Reflecting on whether showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda had a multiple-season arc in mind, Sullivan said: “I don’t know. I don’t think anything’s been decided yet.”
While Jobst, who directed the opening two instalments, said: “I would love there to be [a season two].

“There’s so much material, we could do several different series but they’re very big shows to make.
“They’re very big shows because there is no precinct, you don’t ever go back to one place. You go back to the boat maybe, the Going Merry maybe, but that’s only a vehicle to get you somewhere else, so each world has to be built and then thrown away or re-purposed.
“But that means a lot of construction, that’s a lot of expense and to get it right – as we were very keen to do in what we did – those words need to be built really carefully. They need to be lived in. They need to feel like they’ve got a history. They need to feel like they’ve got an ancestry.”
Netflix confirmed to Express.co.uk there are currently no future series of One Piece confirmed.
However, given the series has only just dropped, it’s far too premature at this stage to say whether there will be more.
As always, the fate of One Piece will be dependent on the viewing figures.
