In the most recent episodes of The Witcher, Ciri of Cintra (played by Freya Allan) found herself again being pursued by wraiths on horses as they tried to capture her.

She initially thought she was being chased by specters but very quickly realized they were more physical and presented a serious danger to her.

Luckily, Ciri was saved by Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) when he came to her aid with the Witcher and his Child of Surprise reuniting after some time apart.

The Wild Hunt’s raids on the Aen Seidhe world would last for several months as the group travelled the breadth of the Continent.

These raids were led by the King of the Wild Hunt Eredin, who it was believed would take the souls of his victims.

The Wild Hunt was actually made up of a group of elves, who had left their own world during the Conjunction of the Spheres to create a new realm.

Initially, there was harmony in this new realm the elves had created but after a while, they desired slaves to do their bidding and the Wild Hunt came about.

In The Witcher, The Wild Hunt set its sights on Ciri because she had Elder Blood within her.

Although Geralt and Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) managed to force The Wild Hunt to disperse and saved Ciri, they had decided they would continue to target her.

This appears to be just the beginning of The Wild Hunt’s mission in The Witcher with this evil entity likely to have a role to play later on in the show, depending on the trajectory the writers want to take.

The Witcher season 3, part 2 will be released on Netflix on July 27
