This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield welcomed ITV viewers to a special instalment of the talk show on Monday. Holly decided to read handwritten letters her children Harry and Belle wrote to the Queen when Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary joined her in the studio. She told viewers the sweet letters about the 96-year-old sovereign really touched her when she read them back.

“She was loved by all generations, wasn’t she?” Holly began. “I sort of gave them their cards and let them get on with it.

“It just really touched me when I read them back as you think, ‘Wow, that’s what is going on in their little heads.'”

Her 13-year-old son Harry’s letter read: “What a journey it’s been, from a regular young Queen who only met one prime minister to a national treasure who has met 15 prime ministers and is the greatest queen England has ever seen.

“You have done so well without Philip, I can’t imagine what it must have been like for you and I am glad you get to see him again.”

Harry said the Queen “made the impossible, possible through what she achieved” during her 70-year reign.

“Whenever you smiled it made me smile and this is one of the greatest qualities a human can have,” it continued.

Alison comforted Holly who appeared emotional after reading Harry’s letter to ITV viewers.

The mum-of-three went on to read her 11-year-old daughter Belle’s message to the late Queen which was shorter than her eldest son’s letter and included pictures.

It read: “I hope you are having an outstanding time in heaven with Philip and your mother and father.

“We will be thinking about you and missing you.”

Belle finished her letter by saying how old she was and revealing her favourite colour was yellow.

Phillip, Alison and Dermot all seemed moved by the children’s sweet words to the Queen who died peacefully on Thursday in Balmoral Castle.
