Holly Willoughby says hosts ‘all now look after each other’ after difficult year

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby claimed her ITV co-stars all "look after each other".

The ITV beauty spoke exclusively to the Daily Star at the National Television Awards about her time on the show.

Talking about her co-stars, she said: "We all look after each other which is the honest truth, we are all very lucky."

Holly also shared her future hopes for the daytime programme.

She added: "I'd love to just continue how it is. We are very blessed. We have a great team of people, we really do, and for me personally, I don't want to speak on behalf of other people, but I look around, I see the team getting in makeup… I just want to come to work and more of that.

"I think we're set to continue that."

Over the past few months, Holly has gotten increasingly close with her co-star Alison Hammond, and the ITV presenter was quick to share a thoughtful gift Alison decided to buy her for their return to work.

Holly shared: "She's one of those unique people who is so wonderful and natural and just who she is on the telly.

"She came into work today and bought me a belly chain which she bought from Sheperd's Bush Market.

"And she said 'I bought you this, I know you're not going to wear it under your dress, but I've bought you two actually because I think they will look really nice on you."

Since the show's Phillip Schofield scandal, Holly admitted it had been very "up and down" for her.

Phillip, who is married to his wife Steph, left the programme earlier this year after it was revealed he had an affair with a younger male colleague.

Holly confessed: "If I'm really honest it's been up and down.

"I think it's been a really difficult year for everybody but what's lovely is, you find that people rally around you and the goodwill is there. People want things to move on.

"It all feels different. During Covid, the viewers relied on us to kind of give them help and talk them through it and give that bit of grounding and information. It's funny now, because I think that's what's lovely about This Morning.

"Sometimes it flips the other way, and you walk down here [the red carpet] and it all feels good again."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 10am
