Hollyoaks icon killed off in unexpected off-screen death after Charlie discovery

Hollyoaks favourite Justin Burton has been killed off in an off-screen death in a shocking soap twist.

The controversial character, played by Chris Fountain, was last seen in the village back in 2009.

However, his son Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan) has continued to grow up in Chester with his legal guardians Nancy (Jessica Fox) and Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) following the murder of his mum Becca Dean (Ali Bastain) in 2007.

With Nancy in America for baby Morgan's heart surgery, Charlie felt left out after spotting his name at the bottom of a family tree made by little Oscar.

Darren was left feeling worried he might lose Charlie after he decided to go on the run to find his biological father, Justin.

On his tracks, Charie bumped into John-Paul McQueen (James Sutton) and quizzed him for some information on the man who abandoned him as a baby, explaining his desire to feel wanted.

John-Paul reminded him that, although Darren isn’t his dad biologically, he’ll still be the one that'll be sat up worried about him.

Later, Brooke Hathaway (Tylan Grant) headed over to the Osborune household and shared some information she'd found out about Justin.

After searching his name online, Brooke came across a post about Justin's death.

As Darren reveals that Charlie is not going to take the news about his dad well, Charlie can be seen doing his own research.

He heads onto Ste Hay's (Kieran Richardson) social page and looks through his friends list.

The young lad spots the post about Justin's death and is left heartbroken.

Charlie was convinced during an affair between Justin and his teacher Becca.

In 2008, Justin legally transferred his parental rights to Becca's husband, Jake Dean (Kevin Sacre).

Justin was a tearaway teen he often was in trouble and eventually got in with the wrong crowd with the likes of Stephen Mackintosh (Paul Holowaty) and started taking drugs.

The character's main storyline and most popular is that of his affair and relationship to his teacher Becca as well as getting involved with the local gangster Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) whom forced Justin to move Sean Kennedy's (Matthew Jay Lewis) body,

Justin would later begin a relationship with Warren's sister Katy Fox (Hanna Tointon) but it would come to an end after just under a year.
