Hollyoaks' Rayne makes new enemy in seriously twisted move ahead of shock end

Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan) proved that playing nice simply isn’t an option for her in Hollyoaks on Thursday (September 7) as she set out to destroy her competition.

The influencer, as viewers know, has made many an enemy since rocking up in the eponymous village earlier this year, using people to get what she wants and then discarding them at a moment’s notice.

Her lies have torn friends and families apart, with boyfriend Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) missing his own sister’s funeral due to her cancer lie, which piqued the suspicions of Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell), who has since launched an investigation into exposing her.

If that wasn’t twisted enough, Rayne subsequently spiked Prince McQueen (Malique Thompson-Dwyer), who she then claimed tried to sexually assault her in a bid to drive a wedge between he and Romeo.

Her behaviour has since spiralled, with scenes seeing her lie about self-harming, in addition to staging an argument for clout from her followers, before showing her true nature when she attacked Romeo in a heated altercation.

With her career in tatters thanks to a video shared by Peri, Rayne is on a mission to save her image, hoping manager Faye Fuller (Madelyn Smedley) will come to her rescue. Faye, however, has been distracted by Lizzie Chen-Williams (Lily Best) this week, believing her to be perfect for a promotion run by another of her clients.

Rayne seethed with jealousy, trying to get Faye to use her instead, but Faye made it quite clear that the influencer wasn’t exactly what this client of hers was after! Rayne ignored her manager’s advice to be nice and instead resorted to cruelty, badmouthing Lizzie online, criticising her look.

Lizzie was left upset, with Sam (Matthew McGivern) stepping in to defend his sister, but the former policeman made a grave error in leaving his phone behind as he stormed out.

In a bid to destroy Lizzie’s chances of being involved in Faye’s family-centric promotion with her clan, Rayne stole Sam’s phone and sent Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown) some shocking text messages.

Zoe confronted Sam, ordering him to leave her alone, believing that he was yet again overstepping the boundaries and exhibiting controlling behaviour. Sam professed his innocence, urging her to believe that he wasn’t responsible for the messages, but Zoe refused to listen, with even Lizzie showing doubts.

So soon after posting the video of Hunter McQueen (Theo Graham) with student Freya Calder (Ellie Henry), which didn’t look good for the teacher when taken out context, it seems Rayne has made yet another enemy in Sam.

The question is: will this prove to be her downfall? The influencer’s reign of terror will conclude in a shocking stunt week, set to air later this month, so only time will tell.

Hollyoaks continues Friday September 8 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
