Hollyoaks reveals sad exit storyline for Romeo Nightingale

Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) takes a chance on love in Hollyoaks later this month as he decides to leave the eponymous village in pursuit of Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter).

Theresa, as viewers will know, decided it was time for a clean break earlier this week, and – after a heart-to-heart with boyfriend Romeo – she left Hollyoaks to go to Spain.

Romeo struggles to process her departure, and as Christmas approaches, his feelings only intensify as he comes to realise that he cannot live without his beloved T.

In emotional scenes, set to air next Friday (December 16), Romeo breaks the news to his loved ones that he’s leaving for Spain to reunite with Theresa.

The young DJ also shares a heartfelt scene with sister Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw), who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Unaware of his sibling’s diagnosis, Romeo has a big surprise in store for her.

What exactly that surprise is remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that time is running out for Romeo, as he soon chases love.

The exit storyline was, of course, written to facilitate actor Owen Warner’s participation in the latest series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Owen came second in the ITV reality series, with Lioness Jill Scott being crowned Queen of the Jungle.

The question is: will we see Romeo back on our screens in due course? Or will he stay in Spain with Theresa and start a new life?

Theresa’s exit was a result of actress Jorgie Porter’s maternity leave.

Jorgie announced last week that she had given birth to a baby boy named Forest.

One to watch: Friday December 16 at 7pm on E4.
