Roy’s Rolls is the last place you’d think would be a den of crime, but the police are rocking up in Coronation Street next week, to make an arrest.
Thankfully, it’s not our Roy Cropper (David Neilson) who is feeling the long arm of the law, but troubled Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), the latest lost soul he has taken under his wing.
In turmoil over a rejection from the object of her affections, Max Turner (Paddy Bever), Lauren has done the only reasonable thing – trashed the barbers shop.
Arriving late for her shift, Lauren is flustered but tells an unimpressed Roy that it won’t happen again.
And if she’s at the police station, she’s probably right – she won’t be showing off at all.
Roy’s face is one of dejection as the officers place Lauren under arrest – so how much of a punishment is she going to be hit with?
And can Roy continue to support her?
Reflecting on the motives behind Lauren’s eruption of anger, actress Cait mused: ‘Lauren is a ticking time bomb, she will build things up because she hasn’t got anyone to release to.
‘Coming back and realising that Max was with Sabrina was a kick in the stomach for Lauren.
‘Max was really all she had as she obviously doesn’t have her dad around, doesn’t have a mum, hasn’t got any friends so she hasn’t got anyone she can release her anxiety or worries on.
‘She builds everything up and then explodes and it’s only a matter of time before she does that.’
While Cait isn’t sure if Lauren can move on from Max choosing Sabrina, she insists that her actions aren’t just black and white.
‘Lauren is not a malicious person, but the way she handles things sometimes does come across like that, but it’s just her being so overwhelmed and so vulnerable,’ she explained.
‘There is a big shift between Lauren, Sabrina and Max as Lauren realises that she does have to take a step back now because it’s not only Sabrina and Max that are hurting, but she is also hurting her own feelings.’
So what next?
‘Lauren’s got quite a few things coming up, but the main thing is that she moves into her own flat, which is exciting as she’s getting more of a solidified structure of a life back together,’ Cait revealed.
‘She actually makes an unlikely friendship with Ryan and he ends up moving into her flat. Lauren and Ryan are very similar in some ways.’
