Im A Celeb in huge format shake-up – and not all stars will survive first episode

ITV bosses have made a huge shake-up for this year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and viewers can expect to witness a new way of life for those in the jungle.

Rather than splitting into two groups, as usual, this year's celebs will find themselves separated into three groups, and will immediately face challenges upon their arrival to their respective camps.

And some celebrities may not even make it to their camps, or through the first episode.

Speaking about the plans for the first episode, executive producer Olly Nash, said: "It’s much bigger than we’ve ever done before and we’re filming more (challenges) than we’ve ever filmed before.

"There’ll be more elements lasting over more shows than has happened before too, so it’s not all just going to be limited to show one.

Olly then teased that "not all the celebrities will be here in camp at the end of Sunday’s show."

Viewers of the show will know that usually the two campsites battle it out against each other in the first episodes, with one winning luxuries and the other forced to live off basic rations.

This is just one of many things that are set to change with the addition of a third campsite.

Olly explained: “The contestants will be coming into camp in three groups, in stages. The first three celebrities will be followed by another three celebrities and they will get the pick of the beds.”

This year's camp will include new bunk beds, and even a motorhome that two lucky campers will be able to reside in.

Olly revealed that the camper van had been “driven through the jungle about 35 years ago” but “broke down” and was “never moved."

Despite its age, Olly assured fans that it will “make a very comfy home for two people inside there."

This year's star-studded line-up includes celebs such as Boy George, Chris Moyles and Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver. Also appearing are former England rugby ace turned royal Mike Tindall, Love Island's Olivia Attwood, Matt Hancock – plus others.

This series also marks the show's return to its original Australian location, having been filmed in Wales during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new series of I'm A Celebrity kicks off on Sunday night at 9pm.
