ITV Coronation Street star rushes son, 3, to hospital as she shares honest mum post

Coronation Street actress Lucy Jo Hudson has opened up on a terrifying experience after she had to race her three year old son Carter to hospital in fear that he had developed an "infection".

Sharing a series of snaps of her adorable little boy lying face down on a bed in the A&E ward, Lucy Jo admitted it was time for an "honest mum post" as she shared her woes with fans on Instagram, only a few months after he needed medical care once before.

The 40 year old soap star, who is also known for her role in Cheshire-set Hollyoaks, ended up begging her followers for reassurance as she struggled to manage the ups and downs of parenthood with a toddler.

Carter had initially been all smiles as he took to the stage in his school's Christmas show on Saturday, wearing a festive Santa Claus costume.

Unfortunately, the initially joyous afternoon took a turn when Lucy Jo realised her little boy had deteriorated and felt incredibly poorly.

"Honest mum post!" the mum-of-two began her caption. "This was me and Carter on Saturday… Swipe to see what happened within a few hours."

"How do they go from being absolutely normal to then being in A&E?" Lucy Jo went on in exasperation, as she reflected on a difficult weekend with her son.

"He’s 100 per cent better now, I really thought he had a water infection god love him, but it turned out it was another infection (down below) bless him!"

The actress shared her relief that Carter was finally feeling better after seeing the doctors, but she was struggling to handle such a rollercoaster journey.

"Thank god he’s back to his normal self now well as normal as my threenager is," she said. "But how crazy is life, you go from one extreme to another being a mum don’t you?

"He was on stage doing his Christmas show, the next… we’re in A&E!!!

"Please share your experience with me so I know I’m not on my own. #kids #poorly #mumlife #help," Lucy Jo added.

While Lucy-Jo was focusing on her son all weekend, the hospital dash comes only a month after the star opened up on her own health worries.

She was diagnosed with Chronic Anaemia, just days after she was rushed into hospital herself for two blood transfusions after her HB levels "were dangerously low".

Upon returning home days later, the actress gave her fans an update on the situation, and was thankfully "on the mend".

"Life lately!!! Well it’s been a crazy time of late…. But I can finally say I am now fully on the mend!" she shared with a series of snapshots. "Thank you for all your gorgeous and thoughtful messages, you don’t know how much I appreciate your kindness."
