Cliff Richard says he didn’t meet Elvis due to his weight
James Martin fans claimed to switch off his ITV cooking show Saturday Morning after Sir Cliff Richard made an appearance. The Mistletoe and Wine hitmaker appeared on the show alongside Loose Women’s Judi Love.
However, before Sir Cliff had even been welcomed onto the show, some ITV viewers refused to watch it, claiming “I’m out!”. The backlash came as Saturday Morning’s official Twitter account shared a snap of James’ guests, as well as explaining what was coming up on the show.
They wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “This am @jamesmartinchef is joined by Sir Cliff Richard and @1Judilove, who try cod, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, and chicken blanquette. @RichardBertinet, @_LisaAllen and Sat Bains are in the house too, cooking up a storm with some delicious recipes! See you at 9.30, @ITV.” (sic)
And while some fans were thrilled to see Sir Cliff on their screens, others were less than impressed and took to social media to share their thoughts.
@MelmummyPollard tweeted: “Yeah I’ll pass after his appearance on this morning! Surprised he had his picture with anyone bigger than him! Which is is basically anyone.” (sic)
@suewill63 simply wrote: “Cliff Richard? I’m out.”

@johindes pointed out: “After his fat shaming on This morning I will give it a miss thanks.”
@tesp1967 echoed: “I’m out over to Matt and Saturday Kitchen on BBC one today .. Cliff not for me.”
@threeshedsjohn added: “Cliff Richards is insufferable, sorry James. He completely ruined that episode of #Saturdaykitchen a few weeks back and will no doubt have the same effect on your show.”
“Sorry James but why Cliff Richard. There are plenty of others for you to have chosen from. I will be watching but with gritted teeth. JH,” @MervinHunt4 went on.

Others were thrilled by the cookery instalment as @paulinedaniels penned: “@sat_jamesmartin Watching James Martin and Cliff Richard while I make a dress for an animal.! Last one before Christmas.!!” (sic)
During James’ chat with Sir Cliff, the TV chef made the singer a smoked cod dish as they discussed his career.
Sir Cliff described the moment he first heard Elvis Presley before speaking about how his career got started.
While Sir Cliff spoke fondly of Elvis, he previously sparked a backlash on This Morning when he discussed the King of Rock’s weight and his refusal to meet him.
