Jamie Lynn Spears quit I’m A Celeb ‘over apron’ as expert wades in on surprise

Jamie Lynn Spears became the second campmate to walk from I'm A Celebrity, following in the footsteps of food critic Grace Dent.

Spears left the ITV show on Wednesday (November 29), with bosses revealing that she left the show "on medical grounds". A statement from producers paid tribute to the singer and actress, as she left the jungle behind.

"Jamie Lynn Spears has left the I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on medical grounds," the statement read. "She's been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities."

Fans of the show had thought that the Zoey 101 star would leave the jungle much earlier, due to her erratic emotions and behaviour. However, Jamie came out of her shell as the weeks progressed, making connections with many of her fellow campmates.

However, whilst producers pinned Jamie Lynn's exit down to medical reasons, a body language expert has said there is more to her decision to leave than meets the eye. Speaking to Paddy Power Games, body language expert Judi James said that it was the arrival of a camp apron that tipped her over the edge.

Judi explained: "There were several potential reasons behind her sudden, dramatic exit but her body language pinpoints the fact that a chef’s apron could be partly to blame. When Sam and Co returned from the Misery Motel without her cherished luxury item from home that she must have been secretly longing for (despite denying it), Jamie’s body language looked solid and stoic until she saw they had brought back an apron for the chef instead."

James added that Jamie's perception of the camp being unfair would become a trigger for anger or rejection, which Britney Spears' sister would take to heart. "Her smile died, she frowned and tilted her head to suggest puzzlement and her lower jaw jutted in defiance," she added.

Continuing, she said: "Suddenly after that moment she sat in camp in a diminished pose, self-hugging and scratching to signal distress and a desire to self-comfort." Judi also added that the small treats from home, such as the chocolate that was brought into camp, also provided an added trigger for her, which might have been responsible for her decision to quit.

"Jamie sat gripping the sides of her hammock like a small and very upset child in a pram, her mouth open in disbelief at the others’ laughter," Judi concluded. "That square of chocolate she was given in place of her children’s photo was just a triggering reminder of the real world that was waiting outside."

As a result, just 10 celebrities remain in camp for the chance to become the first celebrity to be given the boot from camp by the public. While ITV bosses have not confirmed when celebrities would start leaving the jungle, family and friends close to the campmates have been spotted arriving at Aussie airports, which would suggest a public vote is imminent.

I'm A Celebrity airs every day at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
