Jason Bourne 6 ‘in the works’ but Matt Damon will only return on one condition

It’s been seven years since Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass returned to the Jason Bourne film franchise.

The pair had worked together on the original trilogy, which concluded with 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum.

A spin-off sequel with Jeremy Renner’s black ops agent Aaron Cross followed in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, after Damon chose not to return without Greengrass in the director’s chair.

Yet the original duo did reteam for 2016’s fifth movie Jason Bourne, which didn’t feature Renner.

Now Deadline reports that Jason Bourne 6 is “in the works” at Universal, so perhaps the two characters could join forces.

According to the new report, All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger is in talks to helm Bourne 6.

Insiders claim that Damon will be asked first to return to the role when a script is written.

However, they pointed out that the Hollywood star would only reprise the role on one condition.

The sources told the outlet: “As always, everything has to be executed perfectly for Damon to even consider coming back to the franchise, and that starts with a great script and story.

“So as of right now no commitment from him until all of that is in place.”
