Katherine Ryan praises British Transport Police after daughter Violet, 14, was sexually harassed on Tube | The Sun

KATHERINE Ryan has praised the British Transport Police after her teenage daughter was sexually harassed on Tube.

The comedienne has three children, daughter Violet, 14, from a previous relationship and son Fred, two, and daughter Fenna, nine months, with husband Bobby Kootstra.

Katherine, 39, recently revealed how her eldest had been on the London Underground with her 16-year-old cousin Lily when she was sexually harassed by "grown men".

Speaking on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast last month, Katherine said: "There was a man in the middle of the day filming them on the underground. Just a man on his own who got his phone out and starts filming these girls sat opposite him."

Later, Violet had shown her mum the pictures and footage she had taken of the man filming her, but Katherine added: "There's no mistaking Violet's age.

"She's 14, she has braces on her teeth. Anyone looking at these girls, no one is mistaking them for being adult women.

"Maybe someone might hope that Lily's 18, nevertheless, you're a sick freak and you shouldn't be chatting to teenage girls the way you are. I need it to stop."

Following her comments, the British Transport Police reached out to Katherine to offer support, leaving the star full of praise for them.

She told Metro.co.uk: "They take this very seriously. They were hot on it."

Lucy D'Orsi, the Chief Constable of British Transport Police, reached out to Katherine with a personal message following the incident.

Katherine read it out and it said: "I listened to your podcast where you talked about Violet and her cousin's dreadful experience in London.

"That was completely unacceptable. I have responsibility for policing the tube and trains.

"If you've not reported this already, please do so. I'm trying to encourage young women and girls to report unwanted behaviour."
