Killer Bobby makes presence felt in Hollyoaks exit scenes as he crushes Mercedes

Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) received another huge shock in Hollyoaks courtesy of son Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox), who wrote her a chilling letter to inform her that he’s cutting all ties with her.

The killer, as viewers know, is facing a hefty sentence behind bars for taking multiple lives, including that of twisted granddad Silas Blissett, during his killing spree.

Mercedes was heartbroken to learn of just how long her son will spend in jail, but the bigger shock came when he confessed to having also murdered Verity Hutchinson.

Determined to do the right thing, the former Dog landlady insisted that Bobby confess his crime to detective Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown), and he ultimately did just that, meaning that he will now be looking at a much longer stretch inside.

Mercedes was inevitably heartbroken to learn such a thing, but was adamant that having Bobby confess was the right move, admitting to Tony and Diane Hutchinson (Nick Pickard and Alex Fletcher) that she wishes she had reported him earlier as Verity might still be alive if she did.

Friday’s (January 27) first-look edition of the Channel 4 soap, which debuted trendy new opening credits to reflect a number of cast changes, dealt with wrapping up the Bobby story, as Mercedes struggled to get her head around the fact that her baby boy is going away for a long time.

Diane sympathised with her, knowing what it’s like to have a son convicted of a serious crime, and ultimately offered her some advice, insisting that she be there for Bobby if he needs her.

Mercedes was willing to do just that, but as she set off to say goodbye to her son, she received a huge shock – with Zoe popping over to reveal that Bobby had instead given her a letter.

The letter detailed Bobby’s resentment towards his mum, who he revealed he wanted nothing more to do with, claiming that he ‘hates’ her, much to Mercedes’ horror, as she fell to the floor in floods of tears.

Bobby, meanwhile, was taken away to prison, where he will remain for a VERY long time.

Hollyoaks continues Monday January 30 at 7pm on E4, or stream the next episode from 12am on Monday on All4.
