Lorraine takes ITV break as co-host steps in during absence

Christine Lampard previews upcoming guests on Lorraine

Fans may have noticed on Friday that Scottish presenter Lorraine Kelly, 63, wasn’t presenting her ITV chatshow, Lorraine. Instead, host Christine Lampard fronted the show and informed viewers the daytime TV icon wouldn’t be back next week either.

Lorraine is simply enjoying a rest for the Easter holidays, which several other presenters from across channels often do.

Christine often stands in for Lorraine, along with Good Morning Britain’s Ranvir Singh.

As Friday’s show drew to a close, the 44-year-old announced: “That’s all for today.

“Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Ross Kemp join Ranvir [Singh] next week. We’ll see you soon.”

Lorraine recently took some time off presenting due to a virus and Ranvir hosted in her place.

The Morning favourite Holly Willoughby is also set to enjoy a spring-time break, with Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond fronting the show during the school holidays.

The pair usually present the magazine show on Fridays but Alison and Joel Dommett have each joined Holly on the sofa this week while Phillip Schofield takes time off.

Next week, Holly, Phillip, and Lorraine will be absent from their ITV shows.

Several viewers took to social media to question Lorraine’s upcoming break from her show.

Twitter user @shirlpuzz wrote: “Surprise surprise! Someone call Cilla! Lorraine Kelly not presenting her own show AGAIN!

“This time she’s drafted in the long-suffering Christine. It’s disgusting how Lorraine treats the viewers #Lorraine.”

@pokerwithaj jokingly responded: “The way wages department at ITV monitor Lorraine’s hours through your Twitter page.”

@Lizzayx added: “Ranvir next week,” while @gemmalchristie quipped: “No-rraine.”

“Lorraine? More like no show-rraine,” @segamad67 shared.

@russellhor added: “Her compulsive absenteeism has now affected the long-suffering Ranvir who is too burnt out to cover her. “They’ve had to draft in a very tired looking long suffering Christine. This is criminal.” (sic)

Lorraine airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
