After Jess and Sammy were crowned, stunned fans stormed to Twitter airing their dismay that Lochan Nowacki and Whitney Adebayo were the runners-up.
One person fumed: "#loveisland I need to see them number because wtf."
Another vented: "#loveisland this is rigged," as a third scathed: "The producers knew what they did by announcing them as the publics favourite and now look."
A fourth raged: "Def the last Love Island I am watching. I might be capping but I mean it #Love Island."
While a fifth fan requested: "Can someone compile all of the bad stuff that Sammy said about Jess, like now. #loveisland."
It comes after Jess and Sammy left viewers overcome with emotion as they delivered their declaration of love to one another during the Love Island ball.
During the special moment, Jess, who dressed to impress in a lavish red dress for the occasion, opened up to her boyfriend and shared how "serious'" and ""genuine" their connection is.
She said: "Knowing how much it takes for you to get strong feelings screams to me how serious and genuine our connection is."
Sammy told Jess: '"It took some time at the beginning of my journey to realise what I was risking.
"But when I saw you walking towards the fire pit on your own after Casa, I instantly knew that you were all that I wanted – my wandering eye turned into my eye for Jess.'"
The pair have experienced some serious up-and-downs and witnessed each other trying to get on with other contestants, but they appeared to be now stronger than ever.
After spending a passionate night in the hideaway together, Sammy asked for some help from the boys and girls in the villa to help ask the big question to Jess.

Project manager Sammy seemed emotional at the moment, but determined to open up about his feelings for the aesthetics practitioner.
As he commenced with a preamble on how many things they have gone through during their time at the villa, the Love Island hunk admitted Jess was the only one that has "always been on my mind".
Turning to the other Islanders, who were watching from the balcony, they asked Jess whether she'd be Sammy's girlfriend and the blonde beauty happily accepted.
Jess looked on cloud nine as Sammy got candid with his feelings, and she was quick to share her uncontainable glee with the rest of the girls.
