The family of Love Island star Luca Bish have hit back at the haters on social media following the fishmonger's heated feud with Gemma Owen.

Luca was fuming when his villa beau Gemma licked the other boys during the Mile High challenge on Tuesday night (July 26), so he decided to snub her by sticking out his arm to stop her from kissing him.

The saucy game, which carried a Mile High Club theme, saw Gemma, 19, and the rest of the ladies dress up as cabin crew and give the lucky boys lap dances.

However, Luca, 23, clearly wasn't pleased to watch Michael Owen's daughter lick Adam Collard across the chest, so he brushed her away.

Luca was then heard saying he didn't want to see her licking other men, even though it was simply part of a game.

Gemma confronted Luca afterwards, telling him: "You can sit here and say you're not in a mood, you are in a mood. When I came up to you in the challenge, you pushed me off."

Luca insisted he wasn't in a mood and that it was "just banter", but she told him: "It wasn't banter."

The heated feud sparked outrage from fans, some of whom wanted him kicked out of the villa.

However, Luca's family issued a statement on Instagram following the episode, where they argued they didn't think he'd done anything wrong, and that all they wanted to do was "hug" him.

They wrote: "9/10 weeks of not contact with family. It's a crazy intense environment where emotions are heightened.

"Learning to have disagreements and resolve them it is part of all successful relationships. Society preaches men not to bottle things up and to open up???

"So proud of how vulnerable and in touch with his emotions he's been. Nothing but real.

"First to admit if he's being a little "f**k. But really don't feel he's done anything wrong here at all.

"Would do anything to hug him right now."

Luca admitted in the episode it "wasn't nice to see" her lick Adam, but added: "Licking other boys, putting your head down there but it's a challenge. I can't exactly stay annoyed at you for it."

Gemma countered: "So you were in a mood?", to which Luca said: "I didn't like what I saw but…"

Luca then blasted the islander and said: "I do not care what the f*** you done in the challenge, I do not care, I'm not in a mood, and I don't care about the whole situation. I can't be arsed. You're doing my head in."

The hunk got up, ripped his microphone off and stormed out.

It is not the first time the family have addressed the public after Luca has received backlash from viewers for his feuds with Gemma.

Just recently, Luca's sister Claudia recently admitted she'd been made "sick" after fans sent her family death threats.

The worried sibling, who has been handling her brother's Instagram whilst he's in the villa, urged fans not to send the vile messages.

A joint statement was also released by the islanders' social media accounts that read: "Although we have never met, we stand together today united against the hate messages and insults that some viewers seem to think is acceptable to throw at our friends, songs, daughters and family members."
