MAFS UK groom sets record straight on rumours he’s dating Love Island bombshell

Married at First Sight 2023 newcomer JJ Slater has cleared up rumours he's dating Love Island beauty Ella Barnes.

The owner and founder of fashion brand Fully Blessed has set the rumours straight ahead of his wedding to a stranger airing as part of the E4 social experiment show tonight (Thursday, October 5). It was reported that JJ previously dated Ella before they both found fame on dating shows but he insists that the pair were never in a relationship.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, JJ explained: "We were never in a relationship. Ella Barnes and I dated over a couple of years sporadically, a few dates here and there so never actually a relationship and now we're friends. There's nothing really else to say. We're friends now but we dated in the past."

Fans will remember that Ella appeared in the 2023 summer version of Love Island and couples up with Mitch Taylor. They became a couple but split just weeks after leaving the villa.

JJ is one of eight intruders who will join MAFS UK as late arrivals. Matt Pilmoor, Mark Kiley, Erica Roberts, Bianca Petronzi, Sean Malkin, Adrienne Naylor and Jordan Gayle are also newcomers.

The four new couples are set to ruffle feathers as they come face-to-face with the original 2023 series cast members and it has been teased that the dinner parties got to lively that extra security was needed as the contestants clashed in dramatic scenes.

Groom Jordan said: "The dinner parties are chaos. It starts off with one or two people disagreeing and everyone in there has got their own friends and their own circles, so everyone is on one side when their arguing. So it's either team A and team B and then everyone is involved. In the end, it's however many people are sitting around the dinner table all screaming and shouting at each other or cussing each other.

"I remember just sitting there just eating bread and looking at one side and then the other side. As the series goes on, the dinner parties get worse and worse. In the end it's like WWE."

JJ agreed: It's like an episode of Jeremy Kyle." Jordan added: "Put it this way, when there's a dinner party they pay the security guard a good amount of money and their wages were going up and up. JJ said: "They put on extra security at some point as well." Fans will have to wait and watch the drama unfold as the intruders make their debut across the next few episodes.
