MAFS UK Matt reveals show producers asked him to go on show – as he hints at regret

It's been an eventful series of Married at First Sight UK so far and now contestant Matt Murray, who is married to Gemma, has posted a cryptic note to his Instagram stories appearing to hint at regretting over his involvement in the prorgamme.

The teaser last night (September 26) promised explosive scenes on this evening's episode (September 27) as Matt and Whitney Hughes are set to share a kiss despite being partnered with other people on the E4 show.

And ahead of tonight's episode, Matt has taken to Instagram appearing to share the story of how he became involved with the show in the first place and suggesting he should have "watched some TV first."

In the post, shared to his 49,000 followers, Matt writes: "Why did I go on mafs if I don't watch reality TV… I had a message on Instagram March 14th 2022…. Would you like to marry a stranger…We think we have someone for you… The weddings are not legally binding."

"My thoughts… If they think they have found someone, why not go and find out. Worst case scenario, you learn about yourself and its an experience.

"Having never watched reality TV…it would be interesting to go in there with no preconceived ideas of what's to come. Maybe should of watched some TV first," he adds, before a "cry-laughing" emoji and a "face in hands" emoji.

Viewers will recall Matt and wife Gemma Rose, as well as Whitney and husband Duka Cav, have had a tumultuous time with their relationships on the show so far.

And though claiming to be totally new to reality TV Matt is actually no stranger to it having previously appeared on Channel 4's Naked Attraction. The 32 year old made his TV debut on the naked dating show, which came to light when a MAFS viewer shared a screenshot of him on Twitter.

Alongside the image, the Twitter user wrote: "Is it just me or is this the new guy on #MAFSUK on #NakedAttraction???"

In the shot a shirtless Matt could be seen dousing himself in water as he strutted his stuff in front of the camera. He didn't actually bare everything on the show though, as he wasn't a contestant but was rather a friend of someone who had applied.

One person replied to the post: "Good spot!" While a second wrote: "It's not just you, it's definitely him."

Someone else added two aubergine emojis and a crying laughing face as they wrote: "Which episode please…? I want to see the goods".

The person who had posted it had to be the bearer of bad news as they replied: "Haha sorry he wasn’t a contestant! Just a friend of the girl that applied!"

Elsewhere on Married at First Sight, there has been more drama between arch-enemies April and Thomas who sparked a fiery row over tea at a couples' retreat on Monday (September 26) which ended with Thomas accusing April of being a "b*tch" and a "liar" before storming out.

Thomas labelled April and groom George the "fakest couple", and told his former pal: "You're the fakest person here."

Launching into his rant Thomas said: "It really f**ks me off that I have been made out to be a f**king liar because I am not a liar. My name has been dragged through the mud because of your lies."

In the promo clip for tonight (September 27) Thomas looks set to cause yet more drama, as accusations are hurled across the table again.

Married At First Sight UK continues at 9pm on E4.
