Remember when Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) basically held Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden) hostage in a cottage while wielding a wooden spoon?
Who’d have thought the pair would go on to become an iconic and married duo in Coronation Street, providing classic Corrie warmth, bickering and humour?
However, that over the top behaviour still resides in Mary as she chugs up a chainsaw and takes off the head of a paperboy.
Before you get carried away with complaining Corrie is all doom, gloom and violence, you will be relieved to know that it is just the long standing paperboy ornament which stands outside the Kabin.
The end of an era.
The savage attack on a mainstay of Corrie comes after the sad funeral of Norris, who recently passed away. But Norris has left some final riddles in his wake, which leads to Mary’s extreme reaction.
She believes she is going to find some kind of hidden treasure of secret within the depths of the boy but what has Norris stashed in there? And more to the point, how!?
After teasing that the paperboy outside The Kabin contains a secret, Norris finishes by revealing that Rita used to surreptitiously have her hair coloured by Claudia.
A gossip to the very end, we have to stan.
But as Mary carries out her decapitation, viewers will have to wait and see what final trick the beloved Norris has up his sleeve.
