Of all the Netflix shows to have a cliff-hanger ending, the one being compared to Gilmore Girls was not one of them. The show follows a mother and daughter who are trying to outrun their past, literally, after Georgia’s husband’s mysterious death. And it’s safe to say a LOT happens after that. Has Ginny & Georgia been renewed for season 2?
It didn’t take that long for Netflix to make a decision. After less than 2 months of waiting, Netflix confirmed on April 29, 2021 that Ginny & Georgia was renewed for a second season. But, as we all know, good things take time so it’s been a little bit longer of a wait for those who are hoping for it to come out ASAP.
Who will be in Ginny & Georgia season 2?
Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey will be back as Ginny and Georgia, respectively. As for the rest of the cast…who knows! After that ending, Ginny and/or Georgia might have to leave their quiet Massachusetts town and start all over again. Maybe the supporting cast will return, and maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll recruit more Degrassi alums to join the fun. While we all certainly hope that characters like Maxine, Hunter, Marcus, and the actors who play them will return, you never know, with the way Ginny and Georgia live their wild and fast-paced life. What will Ginny & Georgia season 2 be about?
Spoiler alert: This is an original series and not based on a book. I know, truly shocking. So the only way of knowing what the second season is about is to either wait…or look for clues in the last couple of episodes. There’s so much intrigue at the end of season 1 once all of Georgia’s secrets come out and Ginny takes off with her brother. If the show is renewed, season 2 is definitely going to have to resolve all that drama before moving on to a new plotline. The writers have said in interviews that they have s2 plans but not what those plans are.
When will season 2 be released?
Finally, after over a year of waiting, Netflix officially revealed that Ginny & Georgia will be released on January 5, 2023. And they even released some new photos to hold us over until then!

What should I watch while I wait?
If you’re a fan of the Canadian talent in Ginny & Georgia (the show films in Canada), you absolutely must watch both Degrassi: Next Class and Schitt’s Creek. If ladies doing crime is your jam, I also recommend Good Girls and Teenage Bounty Hunters…but Netflix did not renew that show for a season 2, so just make sure to keep that in mind when you’re watching!
