A WOMAN has revealed how her dream home turned into a living hell after a sinister ghost tried to kill her and her family.
Chris O’Toole, her wife Vicky and their son Granger moved into a property that had once belonged to American writer J R Abernathy.
The couple thought nothing of the fact the previous owner had locked one room and "refused" to open it, but when they broke into it once they had moved in, bad things started to happen.
In Discovery+'s A Ghost Ruined My Life, Chris explains how she started seeing wet foot prints on the floor, and a man's face looking back at her in a cabinet.
She says: "Right there I should have known that it was a sign that maybe I shouldn’t have bought the house."
As more things happened, Chris became more anxious and scared to be in her own home.

The women decided to find out more about the property and J R's life, and discovered he was a slave owner, a murderer and rapist, with many of the slaves he owned dying from ‘accidental drownings’.
Chris says: "A lot of bad things happened here, a lot of deaths. The house was haunted, the land was haunted."
She adds how the ghost of J R was in her head and one time, she was in a trance and ended up drawing portrait, unaware of her actions.
But in a more sinister moment, one of Chris' trances lead her to the pond in the grounds of their house and saw her step into the water, with a recreation showing a hand suddenly grabbing her and trying to drown her.

Chris believes that as a biracial woman, J R thinks she is one of his children born from the enslaved women he owned and subsequently tried to drown.
The couple hired a medium, but that only made matters worse as J R's ghost then threatened to kill their son, surrounding him with knives.
She tells the camera: "J R did not like the fact that we knew about his secrets – he wants to kill me."
The couple eventually decided to move away, but Chris admits she can still hear J R's voice.
She says: "He’s still with me and keeps an eye on me."
