Prince Harry suffered a major blow in ratings following the launch of his bombshell interview with journalist Tom Bradbury, after it was revealed more people tuned in for the latest instalment of BBC drama Happy Valley.
On Sunday (January 9), the Duke of Sussex, 38, sat down with the host of The ITV News at Ten to discuss his crumbling relationship with the Royal Family since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped back as working royals.
During the hour-long episode only four million people tuned in for the explosive interview despite weeks of anticipation online.
But it appears as though the viewers have grown tired of his exit story from the monarchy, with many opting to turn over to the hugely popular British crime drama instead.
Overnight figures from BARB (Broadcasters Audience Research Board) suggest the nail-biting drama starring Sarah Lancashire was watched by more than 5.25 million viewers compared to Harry: The Interview's 4.10 million.
These figures make up just one third of the audience reach that Harry and his wife Meghan garnered from their interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March 2021.
The bombshell Oprah interview raked in a staggering 12.4 million viewers who were sat on the edges of their seats throughout the enlightening interview at the time.
But it appears his latest interview less than impressed the British public which appeared to flop in comparison.
While Harry's interview aired on ITV, BBC bosses enjoyed another successful night of TV despite the Duke's hotly-anticipated exposé.
Call The Midwife – which aired directly before Happy Valley – secured an eye-watering 5.61million viewers, while the crime drama followed behind with a whopping 5.25 million viewers.
The royal's enlightening interview came as he continues to promote his controversial new book, Spare, which is set to hit the shelves this week.
The Duke's memoir explores the Royal's entire life, starting with his very public childhood followed by the death of his mother Princess Diana and his teenage years where he struggled with drugs and sex according to reports.
Then the book is set to delve into his military experience before looking at his marriage to Meghan Markle and the subsequent breakdown of his relationship with the rest of the Royal Family.
