Yet there is a glimmer of hope for sorry soap fans.

Emmerdale's Friday episode will last 60 minutes instead of 30 and Coronation Street's Wednesday instalment will switch to Thursday at 8pm.

Last month, Corrie fans were fuming as the soap was cancelledfor the same FA Cup tournament.

Meanwhile in September, they were all cancelled to make way for the Queen's funeral, as a mark of respect.
