Strictly Come Dancing is back for another series of glitz and glamour and the countdown for the launch is officially underway.
The BBC flagship programme is for its 20th year and there’s been a lot of excitement surrounding the milestone series.
In a statement, show bosses revealed that the launch show will be recorded on Wednesday September 7 and air on September 10, with presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly welcoming the new this year’s line-up.
They wrote: ‘Dust off your dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is back!
‘The stunning 20th series returns, bringing glamour and show-stopping dancing back to Saturday nights on BBC One – and we’re extremely excited to be able to welcome an audience back to the studio for this year’s shows.’
And if that wasn’t exciting enough, the Strictly pros are set to perform a spectacular number celebrating 100 years of the BBC.
The beloved competition will welcome a fresh batch of celebrities – which are yet to be confirmed – to the ballroom, with Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke serving as the judges.
Elsewhere, four new professional dancers will be seen on our screens, taking the total number to 20 – the highest ever on the show.
Those newcomers are Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, and Michelle Tsiakkas.
Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington and Nancy Xu have already been confirmed for the upcoming run of Strictly.
Sadly, Oti Mabuse decided to leave the show after seven seasons, and Aljaž Škorjanec will also be absent.
Several notable names have been associated with this year’s show including former England rugby star Mike Tindall and Lady Louise Windsor.
While soap actor Adam Thomas and TV chef Gino D’Acampo are also rumoured to take part.
Fans saw Rose Ayling-Ellis lift the Glitterball trophy back in 2021, alongside partner Giovanni Pernice.
But who will end up following in her footsteps?
Strictly Come Dancing returns September 10 on BBC One.
