Strictly fans ‘work out’ Jayde Adam’s downfall as she’s eliminated from show

Strictly Come Dancing fans are convinced they have discovered what caused Jayde Adams to lose the judge’s favour, as she was sadly eliminated from the competition on Sunday night.

The 37 year old comedian, who was partnered with Karen Hauer, was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the show, after failing to impress the judges with her Victoria Wood inspired Charleston during a very special week celebrating the BBC’s 100th anniversary.

Yet it was the routine itself and the theme, that many fans were convinced was the reason the popular dancer was forced to face the dreaded dance off, as many felt she still had far more to give.

Venting their frustration on Twitter, one fan penned: “Sorry to see Jayde go. Let down by a bad theme and a poor routine. Deserved to stay longer in the competition I think.”

A second fan agreed, adding: “Totally agree, a lot of good dancers looked poor this week imo and this look and routine did not play to their strengths, a bad choice from production imo”.

While a third also weighed in and commented: “Definitely not her strongest dance, but she was done dirty with that song and that routine.”

During the comedic routine, Jayde and Karen could be seen performing a variety of lifts together as they put plenty of enthusiasm and energy into their performance, however it fell short in the judge’s eyes when pit against Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, the other couple in this week’s dance off.

Performing a Grange Hill inspired couple’s choice dance, the pair quickly impressed the judges, with all four dancing professionals voting to save them.

Craig Revel Horwood explained his decision was based on technical ability while Anton Du Beke felt Molly and Carlos had a “slightly more polished technique”.

Motsi Mabuse then added: “Well I thought you were both brilliant, I thought that both performances were better than Saturday night but I am going to save Molly and Carlos.”

With three votes to Molly and Carlos, it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition, however, head judge Shirley Ballas also said she would have decided to save the couple.

She said: “Well both were absolutely superb in the dance off but, on a little bit more precision and quality of movement, I would have saved Molly and Carlos.”

Jayde and Karen were just one of two same-sex pairings to take part in the year’s series, with BBC Radio 2’s Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice also taking part before they were eliminated in week 2 of the competition.

The comedian and dancer are also the show’s second female same-sex couple, as Katya Jones was paired with Olympic gold medallist boxer Nicola Adams in 2020.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday October 29 at 6.50pm for its Halloween Special, with the results show on Sunday October 30 at 7:20pm on BBC One.
