Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice has been pictured walking into his home after a challenging week.

The professional dancer was pictured getting out of a taxi as he wrapped up warm in the chilly weather and headed to his home. Giovanni looked downcast as he held a bag in his hand and returned to his property.

His seemingly glum demeanour follows a challenging week after he was forced to withdraw from the dancing competition. While he is no longer competing, he'll still be appearing on the show as a professional.

Daily Star exclusively revealed that Amanda Abbington would be leaving the competition after feeling "fed up". It was later confirmed by It Takes Two host Fleur East as BBC wished her the best. Giovanni later issued his own statement and sent support to Amanda.

He wrote alongside a photo of the two of them: "Amanda… I am so sad we can't continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love." However when Amanda later issued her own statement, she didn't mention her professional partner.

She posted a photo of dancing shoes and said she had "deepest regrets" about leaving the show. She added: "I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue."

Amanda added that it was a joy to work with her fellow contestants and praised the hardworking group of people. The actress added: "I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them."

Amanda thanked everyone for their support as her co-stars were quick to rush to share their support. An insider recently told Daily Star that Amanda hadn't told Giovanni she had decided to quit the show.

An insider said: "The first he heard was a call from a producer. This has really annoyed him. He's barely heard from her for 10 days. She hasn't been replying to messages or telling him what's happening. He's been complaining about it to friends. He's frustrated."

Giovanni and Amanda were doing well in the competition before their exit, landing a spot in the top few contestants on the leaderboard each week.

The competition is still well and truly underway, with the dancers returning to the ballroom on Saturday night.
