Johannes admits his dance with John Whaite was career highlight

Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe explained that dancing with John Whaite was the “best moment” of his dancing career.

Johannes joined The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on Thursday evening to discuss the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

At the end of their conversation, Roman asked: “[What is] the best moment of your dancing career so far Johannes?”

Johannes quickly and confidently replied: “My Rumba with John Whaite,” leaving Alex to quip: “Very sensual.”

Earlier in their conversation, Roman and Alex were keen to try and get Johannes to tease something about the new series.

Roman said: “People know you from Strictly and they love seeing that smile and everyone is so excited, I know you can’t say much about the new series, but you can.

“The Blackpool illuminations are going to be switched on tomorrow, there is some last-minute testing.

“Strictly is returning, how excited are you for the new series and what can you tell me?”

Johannes smiled and revealed: “I am thrilled and all I can say is you guys are in for a treat because we have really turned, it is going to be amazing.”

Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals Tour is hitting the road once again in May 2024, with a star-studded line-up. Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Gorka Marquez and Nancy Xu are just a few of the names hitting cities around the country, including London, Cardiff, Liverpool and Brighton to name just a few. 

Pushing her luck, Alex teased: “Are you going to be dancing with Angela Rippon?”

Johannes laughed and slyly replied: “Thank you for putting me on the spot Alex…”

Earlier this week, Johannes broke his silence after John admitted to falling in love with the Strictly pro after their pairing in 2021.

He also added that he needed to cut down on his contact with Johannes for the sake of his relationship and to respect his partner, Paul’s, feelings.

Speaking about his friendship with John, Johannes told The Times: “We have gone on to have such a beautiful experience together that it would be a shame if we were not friends after all that.

“What we agreed is that, regardless of what life throws at us, we will always keep [the friendship] going.

“‘We are friends for life,’ I always say to him. ‘I know where you live. You cannot get rid of me.’ I still speak to him.”

The celebrities taking part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing are, Angela Rippon, Amanda Abbington, Layton Williams, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Angela Scanlon, Zara McDermott, Adam Thomas, Nikita Kanda, Ellie Leach, Jody Cundy, Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman, Annabel Croft and Les Dennis.
