Susanna Reid ‘will be missed’ as she confirms break from Good Morning Britain

Susanna Reid has said her goodbyes to Good Morning Britain – as she takes a break from the ITV programme.

The TV favourite, 53, has been a regular on the show for ten years. And on Wednesday (December 13) the programme returned for its latest instalment – fronted by Susanna and Ed Balls.

However, Susanna revealed it was her final show as she is taking time off for her annual Christmas break. The journalist issued a thank to you viewers before the episode wrapped.

She spoke straight to the camera and said: "I would just like to say a huge Happy Christmas to you all. Thank you so much for watching this year.

“Of course, Good Morning Britain is back all the way up to and including Christmas and the New Year. But we are now off and we will see you in January."

Ed then chimed in and gave a wave to the camera. He added: "I will see you in January too."

Susanna also took to her Instagram to confirm the news of her break. Alongside a stunning snap of her in a green dress, she wrote in the caption: “CHRISTMAS BREAK! Off @gmb til new year – THANK YOU and HAPPY CHRISTMAS to all our viewers. See you in January.”

Fans were quick to send their well wishes to Susanna in the comments section. One person said: “You’ll be missed!”

Someone else added: “Looking gorgeous, happy Christmas, have a lovely break.” A third quipped: “Enjoy your time off.”

Elsewhere on the show, Ed Balls branded co-star Susanna "so unfair" after she made a cheeky die about him joining a dating app. The ITV duo had been discussing dating apps and Christmas parties, and Susanna, 53, seemed quite keen on getting Ed, 56, to sign up to Tinder.

However it was clear Ed had no interest in swiping left or right to find a date. Susanna, dressed in a festive green sparkly dress, brought it up again later when speaking to Lorraine Kelly, 64. But again, Ed was having none of it.

"You are so unfair," he told his co-star. "Tinder is what you use to light a fire!"

Rather than using a dating app, Ed said places like the office Christmas party were much better for finding love. The debate started with him and Susanna talking about whether office parties were out-dated, and if people would prefer "cold hard cash" from bosses instead.
