The Amazing Race alum, and the CBS show’s oldest female competitor, Jody Kelly, has passed away aged 85.

Kelly’s daughter Kelly Foster confirmed her death in a Facebook post shared on September 6.

In the statement, Foster referred to her late mother as being “full of life” as she highlighted her love of sports and adventure.

She wrote: “I lost my mother yesterday. Jody Kelly was 85 years old and so full of life, joy, and learning.

“She always had a smile for everyone she interacted with and loved meeting people and having new adventures.

“She was so active and was always thinking of how to get in her exercise for the day.

“She carried exercise bands if she traveled and made it a point to do something physical every day.”

Foster added: “I miss you so much and can’t believe you are gone. You are strong, loving, happy, open-minded, smart, active, and brave.”

A cause of death has not been disclosed.

However, her obituary in the Austin American-Statesman states that she died “suddenly but peacefully”.

The TV star was attending a Spanish language immersion camp in Bemidji, Minnesota, on September 5 when she died.

Kelly appeared on Season 16 of the CBS show with her granddaughter Shannon Foster in 2010.

At the time, the former English professor was 71 and her granddaughter was 22.

According to her obituary, Kelly taught at the University of Louisiana for sixteen years and later taught writing at Austin Community College.
