The Chase star Bradley Walsh brought the ITV show to a halt after he discovered something about one of his players.

Bradley Walsh, 63, welcomed four new contestants; Dave, Theo, Simone and Alvin, who put their general knowledge to the test during Wednesday's (October 11) instalment of the ITV quiz show. Dave was first up to face Shaun Wallace and managed to make it back to the final chase with his £7,000 firmly in the bank.

Following him was junior doctor Tom, who managed to earn £5,000 in the cash builder. When the 24-year-old turned to his team for advice on which money offer to pick, the former Corrie star had no choice but address something.

"Woah hold the line," Bradley exclaimed. "Simone, you're from the United States of America?" "Yeah," she simply responded.

The presenter quipped: "Wow, I heard that accent. I love it. That's cool. We'll have a chat later, I love people from the States." This wasn't the first time the star questioned Simon on her background.

"Next up is Simon all the way from the United States of America," he said later in the programme. "Whereabouts Simon?" he asked before she revealed she was from Massachusetts.

After the cash builder, the Dark Destroyer tempted her with a number of cash offers. Wanting to get back to help out Dave, the 33-year-old chose the lower offer of £1,000.

The final contestant to take part was Alvin, 61, who amassed £5,000 in the first round. Not wanting to go low, the Devon-born star opted to stick with his original offer.

But Shaun's knowledge was too much for the 61-year-old and he was knocked out of the competition. Simon and Dave answered just 11 questions correctly in the final chase, which they were certain wouldn't be enough to win the £8,000.

Bradley joked that he was going to ask the questions "really slowly", but this didn't matter. Shaun caught the duo with 44 seconds remaining.
