Toyah and Spider reunite in Corrie despite the dangerous risks

Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) stuck to his word up until Wednesday’s edition of Coronation Street.

After a trip with Griff (Michael Condron) and his mates resulted in a bomb going off and Max (Paddy Bever) ending up in hospital, Spider was frustrated when his colleague explained they still can’t arrest the extremism gang as they don’t have enough substantial evidence to link them to the crimes that have recently been committed.

An annoyed Spider headed out of the ginnel and bumped into Toyah (Georgia Taylor), who made a comment about him being on the phone to one of his racist mates.

Spider confessed all to Toyah, revealing that he is an undercover police officer attempting to destroy Griff and the gang.

The problem? Toyah didn’t believe him.

We picked up the storyline at the start of tonight’s episode, as Spider sat down and revealed to Toyah why he decided to become an undercover cop.

Spider told his lifelong pal that after an ordeal in South America, which ended in his friend dying, he wanted to do something more than just attend climate change protests and continue his activism – so he joined the force.

Because of Spider’s background, they appointed him the undercover role.

Initially, it seemed as though Toyah was going to struggle keeping Spider’s secret – she is a kind and caring soul and wanted to tell David (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona (Julia Goulding) about Max being in hospital.

Because of that, Spider then put distance between him and Toyah, which upset her.

It took the entire day for Toyah to contact Spider and tell him that they can face the fears together – she won’t tell a soul about his secret, and he can continue trying to make a change.

Spider has broken the rules of his job by telling Toyah – will he regret it?
