Virgin River held the top spot in Netflix’s top 10 for many weeks following the release of season four. Another season is already in the making as the show continues to gain more viewers all the time. Ricky star Grayson Gurnsey and Lizzie actress Sarah Dugdale spoke to Express.co.uk about what’s in store.

Virgin River season four included plenty of dramatic moments, including the explosive season finale.

Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) found out he was not the father of Charmaine Roberts’ (Lauren Hammersley) twins.

Meanwhile, Ricky said goodbye to his friend and family as he left Virgin River to join the Marines.

Ricky star Grayson Gurnsey said although he would not be in season five, he is sure the show will continue for many years to come.

“I think it’s going to stick around for as long as everyone is on board, to be honest,” he said.

“As long as the storylines keep getting juicier, it’s a show that has an unlimited shelf life because it’s such a slice of life.

“It’s nice to have something where it’s like, the stakes are always high but you are never in such a situation where you are getting too stressed.

“It’s a nice show to watch when you want some drama but not something that’s just insane.

“Watching Ozark I get itchy because it’s just too much, I have to take it in bursts.”

The star said the series is so popular due to its relaxed and breathable nature.

He added: “That’s why the show can go for as long as the actors and writers don’t get bored.”

Lizzie was also faced with a huge bombshell at the end of season four when Denny (Kai Bradbury) revealed the truth about his condition.

He told her he had terminal Huntington’s Disease, which is why he was reluctant to pursue a relationship.

On how long she thinks the show could continue, Sarah said: “I think the show could go on for a very long time.

“There are so many characters which means there are so many stories that could happen.

“I think this show exists in such a unique space and the audience is so wide and varied.

“It’s not just a romance drama, or medical drama or crime drama, there are all these little bits and all these different relationships I think people can see themselves in.

“Maybe you know someone like a gossipy Aunt Connie with a heart of gold, or you are a teenager like Lizzie and you don’t really know what you want right now in life.

“I feel like there’s something for everybody to hold on to and really love and I think that’s why people keep coming back.”
