What is the plot for Karen Pirie?

The three-part crime thriller will follow the exploits of a young female detective, Karen.

She is described as a "refreshingly normal and charmingly unfashionable woman" who is tasked with reopening a cold murder case, sparking plenty of drama.

Speaking about Karen Pirie writer Emer said: "From the moment I read that Karen Pirie orders a Bacardi Breezer as her after-work drink, I knew that she was the detective for me."

Following public pressure from a podcast about the murder of Rosie Duff, which happened in 1996, Karen is forced to reopen the investigation.

Teenager Rosie was found dead in the Scottish university town of St Andrews by three drunk students – Ziggy, Weird and Alex.

The three students become the prime suspects of the investigation and have to give their input again to discover the murderer when the investigation is opened almost 26 years later.
