Ageless energy? People fighting fatigue in their fifties and beyond

The secret to ageless energy? Meet the people who are fighting fatigue in their fifties and beyond

Getting older is a reality, but feeling old is an entirely different story.

When you reach middle age, your body and mind go through a variety of changes.

Your body doesn’t behave as it used to, hormones start to become more out of control, and it can become increasingly difficult for your body to absorb nutrients efficiently. It also leads to many of us feeling tired all of the time.

Many people find increasing as they age that they feel tired all, or the majority of the time

If you’re stuck with persistent low energy levels, it may not just be a result of getting older, but could well be a lack of the right vitamins and minerals.

Interestingly, according to UK food intake data from the regular National Diet & Nutrition studies run by Public Health England, the majority of us are not achieving the target RDA (recommended daily allowance) across key micronutrients.

Dr Gowland explains: ‘Ageing brings new and different nutritional challenges to all of us. Fighting Fatigue is specifically designed to meet those unique needs, to help keep you active and feeling younger for longer’

These changes can especially affect our energy levels and muscle strength. This prompted Dr Max Gowland PhD, founder of the Prime Fifty range of nutritional health supplements, and Chief Scientific Officer at FutureYou Cambridge, to investigate.

He researched how innovations in food supplements could help individuals over 50 to maintain the necessary levels of nutrients to support their changing bodies. This resulted in the introduction of Fighting Fatigue, one of the Prime Fifty range of supplements and the only ones in the UK specifically developed for the over 50s.

‘As we get older, we lose muscle and staying active is the most important thing that we can do. However, it’s a vicious cycle; if you feel tired all the time, you want to do less, the less you do, the more you begin to lose important muscle strength and become more frail.’ says Dr Gowland.

Vicki says she noticed she had increased energy after just 5 days of taking Fighting Fatigue

Our Fighting Fatigue supplement has important energy replenishing nutrients such as B vitamins, vitamins C and D, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, CoQ10, among others.

‘These micronutrients support our health in so many ways, and most importantly, they help us to stay energised.’

Energy was certainly key for Vicki Bradburn, 68, from Wolverhampton.

‘What a difference they have made. I was constantly tired before, but within five days of starting these I spent four hours cleaning my car inside and out and still had enough energy to spend four consecutive days digging and tidying up my garden.

‘Fighting Fatigue gave me the kickstart I needed. Up until recently I worked full-time in financial services. Before I started taking them, after my housework, I had little energy for anything else. Now I can’t wait to get into the garden.’

For wellness coach Hannah Williams, knowing the science that went into developing Fighting Fatigue is one of the reasons she recommends it to her clients

Health Wellness and Life coach Hannah Rees Williams recommends Fighting Fatigue to her clients, particularly those over 50.

‘Keeping active is so important, particularly as you age,’ she says.

‘Fighting Fatigue has been developed by a scientist who has dedicated his time to developing supplements for the over 50s. He knows about the huge effect nutrition plays in our overall health, but the science is complex. I like that he’s done the thinking for you.’

Aine McCaffery, 74 who lives in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland agrees and gave the supplement five stars on TrustPilot.

‘Fighting Fatigue is a wonderful vitamin and I would highly recommend it’ she says.

‘After taking it, I just found I could do more – I just felt much better in myself.

Fighting Fatigue contains 21 vitamins and minerals, and is designed specifically to meet the needs of the over 50s

‘I love the fact that it’s delivered to my door each month. As you get older, little things like that make a big difference – it’s one less thing to worry about’.

Designed specifically to meet the needs of the over 50s, Fighting Fatigue contains 21 vitamins and minerals, including vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12, as well as folic acid and iron which contribute to reduced tiredness and fatigue. It also includes both vitamin C and D and is suitable for vegetarians.

‘I’ve made it my mission in life to make it easier for the consumer, by doing all the work researching the science and nutritional data’ says Dr Max.

‘For example, amazingly, more than half of us in the UK aren’t getting our daily recommended magnesium intake from our diets.’

Fighting Fatigue also contains a patented natural black pepper extract which has been shown scientifically to improve absorption. The ageing gut does not absorb particularly efficiently, so using this natural ingredient helps us better absorb these key micronutrients.

Dav Kumar says since taking Fighting Fatigue he feels much more like his old self, is able to exercise well and has more energy

Dav Kumar, 54, from County Durham also swears by Fighting Fatigue.

‘I was feeling lethargic and had not been as active as usual.

‘I decided to take matters in hand. I joined a gym, started working with a personal trainer and cut down on my calorie intake. But I wanted to make sure I was still getting all the important vitamins and minerals I needed in my diet.

‘This multinutrient gives me the reassurance I want all in one easy to take small tablet. I feel much more like my old self, I’m able to exercise well and I have more energy.’

So, how do these micronutrients benefit overall health? B vitamins, for example, play a vital role in energy production, as does iodine. Vitamins A and D support our bone health. Selenium and Vitamin C support immunity. Vitamin C also helps keep skin and teeth healthy, and aids in the absorption of iron from food or supplements.

Marilyn said she started to notice a difference in her energy levels after just a few weeks of taking FutureYou Cambridge’s Fighting Fatigue and has now taken out a subscription

Marilyn Cameron, 74, a retired administrator from Epsom, found Fighting Fatigue really helped her energy levels when looking after her grandchildren.

‘When you care for small children you really notice your energy levels. My eldest grandchild is six and when I look back on the last few years I started to notice that I was getting increasingly tired and had less energy to do things I previously had no issue with.

‘I watched a video of Dr Max explaining about the ingredients in the supplement Fighting Fatigue and was interested in giving them a try.

‘In a matter of a few weeks I felt so much more like me. I’m so convinced that I’ve taken out a subscription and I wouldn’t be without them.’

Dr Max concludes: ‘Ageing brings new and different nutritional challenges to all of us. Fighting Fatigue is specifically designed to meet those unique needs, to help keep you active and feeling younger for longer. It gives me an enormous amount of pleasure to regularly hear how our supplements have helped so many people like Vicki, Aine, Dev and Marilyn lead a more fulfilled and active life.’
