  • British was spotted apparently lifeless in the water in Cala Jondal, San Jose, Ibiza

A British holidaymaker has been found floating dead in the sea off a popular Ibizan holiday cove.

The 33-year-old is believed to have drowned although a police investigation will now be carried out to determine the cause of death.

The alarm was raised this afternoon after the man was spotted apparently lifeless in the water at upmarket Cala Jondal in the municipality of San Jose in the south-west of the island.

Lifeguards got him to a nearby boat and tried to revive him before emergency responders took over after reaching the scene.

There was nothing they could do to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The attempts to revive him before he was pronounced dead are said to have lasted around 40 minutes.

Police could not be reached for comment this afternoon but are expected to make a statement later.

Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith is still believed to own a mansion called Maison de Bang Bang at Cala Jondal.

Kate and William once enjoyed a romantic getaway at the villa.

The popular cove is also home to famous beach clubs like Blue Marlin – where celebrities often enjoy live DJ sessions.

Last month air stewardess Dolly Middleton, 24, was pictured dancing with Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish at Blue Marlin – but her mother insisted she was not impressed by the footballer.

It comes after just a week after a British teenager died in hospital after collapsing at an Ibiza nightclub in the early hours of the morning.

The 19-year-old was rushed to hospital from the Amnesia Club near the village of San Rafael between San Antonio and Ibiza Town at around 5am on July 27, according to sources.

He was said to have gone into cardiac arrest before paramedics arrived. They are understood to have stabilised him at the scene and taken him to Can Misses Hospital in the island’s capital about 6.30am. He died less than an hour later.

News of the teenager’s death came a day after a 22-year-old German woman was found dead in her hotel, also in San Antonio.

Local reports said her friend discovered her in her bed and tried to wake her up, but that she would not respond, the Guardia Civil said according to local media.
