Dad 'stabbed wife to death in front of child before trying to take own life with broomstick in prison' | The Sun

A DAD alleged to have killed his wife in front of their child has reportedly tried to kill himself in jail using a broomstick.

Alexandru Ianosi, 35, ended up in a coma after stabbing himself in the eye with the end of the broom just weeks after being taken into custody.

He is alleged to have stabbed his partner, Lilia Patranjel, 40, to death in the living room of their Italian home as their four-year-old son watched on.

The Romanian man is now reported to have tried to kill himself in his prison cell because he was "devastated by feelings of guilt" after committing the crime.

The Daily Star reported a few days after waking from the coma, Ianosi allegedly said: "I did everything by myself to punish myself."

He was transported to Dell' Angelo Hospital's reanimation ward, in Venice, straight after the October 6 incident, where he is said to still be recovering.

Ianosi and professional caregiver Lilia, originally from Moldova, moved to Italy in 2017.

It is reported Ianosi started being violent towards Lilia and she demanded they split – after he beat her on three different occasions.

It is alleged after Lilia said she wanted to separate on September 22, Ianosi grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her several times in her chest and stomach.

Sadly, she died almost instantly.

Ianosi rang the police and confessed to the crime, while their four-year-old later told cops: "Mother fell."

The man was arrested and detained for voluntary manslaughter, after he told police: "Come and get me, I killed my partner."

Ianosi's defense will allegedly depend on a psychiatric report which lawyers say will show he wasn't himself on the day of the murder.
