Ghislaine Maxwell launches appeal against her sex trafficking sentence

“Because of her length of time inside and the brutality of her crime, she is treated like a female don.

“All the younger girls address her as ‘Miss Novack’ out of respect.

"Ghislaine will have a modicum of protection through her friendship, but given their ages and millionaire backgrounds, they were always destined to get on well.

"Together, they spend hours talking, laughing and joking.”

Novack is currently serving a prison sentence after it was revealed she was the mastermind behind the brutal murder of her ex-husband Ben Novak Jr, 53 and his mum Bernice, 87.

The pair were killed three months apart by hitmen hired by Novack's brother Cristóbal Véliz.

When the body of Bernice was found in her garage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in April 2009, officials ruled her death as the result of an accidental fall.

But when her son -who would be the heir of an 8.5million fortune, was found brutally murdered three months later, the police reopen the investigation.

The 53-year-old had been suffocated to death, bound with duct tape and had his eyes gouged out.

He was found at the penthouse suite at the Hilton Hotel in Rye Brook, New York where he was staying with Novack- who initially pretended she had found her husband's body.

Hitmen Alejandro Garcia and Joel Gonzales eventually led police to Novack in exchange for more lenient sentences.

Novack was arrested in July 2010, nearly a year after her husband's murder.

During the trial Novack and Véliz blamed Novack’s daughter, May Abad, for orchestrating the killings, saying she was motivated by benefits from Ben’s estate.

Narcy was found guilty of a series of offences including murder and money laundering and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
