The father of a murdered woman doing a charity hike in her memory says he and his companion were turned down by the owner of a B&B because of their scouse accents.

Tim Edwards and John May said they weren’t allowed to stay in the room they had pre-booked for Thursday night at the East Hillerton House in Spreyton, Devon.

Mr Edwards was in the nearing the end of a 250-mile hike to Land’s End to raise money for his late daughter’s foundation.

But he said that the B&B owner told them ‘she didn’t care’ when they explained the story behind their long walk.

The owner has since called him up to apologise for the incident.

The bereaved father said he was deliberating publishing his experience the B&B, but went public after being treated so aggressively by the owners.

He says he was since called again by the owner who told him that she wasn’t like the way she had acted and pledged a donation to his foundation.
