The bright red leather interior is set behind a gleaming wooden dashboard
Coltrane played Hagrid in all eight Harry Potter films in what was his best known role
It has been in his possession since 1998 and despite becoming hugely attached, he feels now is the time to give his prized possession a new home and the sale takes place on March 21.
The veteran actor said: ‘Having enjoyed the Jaguar for many years, the time has come to part company with it.
‘My friend at Bonhams is handling the sale and I’m excited for the auction. I think she is the finest MK2 I have ever seen.’
The interior of the Mk2 is just as impressive as the exterior with red leather seats, a wooden dashboard and trays that fold up on the back of the front seats.
There are 40,000 miles on the clock and a spokesperson for Bonhams added: ‘Robbie Coltrane actually bought this manual gearbox model car from us in 1998 and during his 22 years’ ownership it has enjoyed some sensible modifications including upgraded brakes and steering, as well as a five-speed manual gearbox.
‘Marque specialists Vicarage re-built the engine in 2002 following an engine fire while two years ago £32,000-worth of work was carried out.
The engine is a 34.litre twin carb and Coltrane had the car restored to the tune of £32,000
‘It starts and runs well, the running gear is said to be in generally good order, as are the electrics.
‘The bodywork, paint and wheels remain in very good condition. Interior-wise the seats are in good fettle while door cards, dashboard and headlining offer scope for some improvement if required.’
Coltrane played Hagrid in all eight Harry Potter films and is also known for his portrayal of Fitz in the ITV series Cracker.
