A FIVE-year-old boy is fighting for life after a horror three-car crash near a Scots airport.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Inverness Airport at around 9am yesterday morning.

It happened on the B9039 road at the junction with Dalcross Industrial Estate in Dingwall.

Officers were called to the area after receiving reports of the smash involving a grey Vauxhall Insignia, a grey Peugeot 208 and a black Vauxhall Astra.

Three people, including a five-year-old boy, a six-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman were rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

The young boy has since been transferred to Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Medics have described his condition as critical.

The young girl has remained in the Raigmore Hospital and is described as having serious injuries.

The 39-year-old woman has now been released from hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

Two men, aged 53 and 22, were checked at the scene by paramedics.

Police locked down the road for nine hours as crash investigators carried out their enquiries.

It was reopened again later in the day at around 6pm.

Officers launched a probe into the incident and they are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to come forward.

They are urging anyone who may have seen something, or anyone who may know something, to speak with cops.

They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area from the time of the crash.

Sergeant David Miller, from the Dingwall Bridaig Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the B9039/A96 area, or who saw any of the vehicles prior to the crash, to please come forward.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone in the area who may have dashcam footage, as we carry out enquiries into this incident.

“Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 0658 of 6 March, 2023.”
