Heartbroken family pay tribute to 'beautiful & loving' girl, 9, killed by car as she crossed road | The Sun

TRIBUTES have been paid to a "beautiful" nine-year-old girl killed in a horror crash as she crossed the road.

Alice Williams was on a pedestrian crossing in Halifax, West Yorkshire, when she was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa.

She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but sadly died four days later.

Alice's devastated family have now paid tribute to the youngster.

They said: "Alice was a bright, loving and beautiful girl, who brought her family and friends joy every day.

“We desperately miss her and will never be able to comprehend her shocking death.”

Alice's headteacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy also released a statement following the tragedy.

She said: "Alice was a genuinely lovely little girl. She was someone who was gentle, kindhearted, and full of smiles.

“Her loss has left a huge hole in our school and our community, and we will continue to remember and honour her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.”

Emergency crews were scrambled to King Cross Street at around 11am on July 8.

Alice was crossing the road with an adult when the car collided with her.

Police confirmed the driver, a 53-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has now been released on bail while enquiries continue.
