  • The Israeli operation was triggered by Hamas’ October 7 terror attack in southern Israel, in which the Palestinian gunmen killed more than 1,200 people

Intense footage shows Israeli troops storming the ruins of a hotel while hunting down Hamas terrorists as the IDF continues its operation in the Gaza Strip.

After moving forward through the ruins of the large building situated in one of Gaza’s refugee camps, the IDF said the troops uncovered a cache of weapons.

The Israeli operation was triggered by Hamas’ October 7 terror attack in southern Israel, in which the Palestinian gunmen killed more than 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and captured some 240 men, women and children.

Of those, two-thirds of them are said to be women and minors. Another 2,700 have been reported missing, believed buried under rubble.

In the latest dramatic footage from the IDF’s ground invasion, commandos are seen methodically going from room to room in the hotel in Mulched, northern Gaza.

Heavily armed and armoured troops are seen combing through the site, using rubble for cover and firing around blind corners where Hamas terrorists could be hiding.

An Israeli tanks is also seen in the fray, opening fire on Hamas positions, and an air strike is called in as two soldiers watch through a window – sending up a fireball along with a large plume of smoke into the air.

Fighting in Gaza involves slowly and methodically advancing down densely packed streets, particularly when it comes to Gaza City’s refugee camps.

While known as refugee camps in the past, the have since grown into neighbourhoods in their own right, more resembling slum-like conditions.

Analysts have likened the dangerous close-combat fighting to that seen in Stalingrad in 1942, and more recently in the Battle of Mosul in 2017.

Filmed by a camera mounted on the helmet of an IDF soldier, the latest dramatic video demonstrates this in heart-stopping detail.

The commandos are seen advancing – machine guns raised – down narrow streets lined with blown-out and bullet-ridden walls.

Dark windows, through which a Hamas terrorist could appear at any moment, line the buildings above the soldiers as they carry out the operation.

Finally, the video shows the IDF troops inside the hotel, following each other down narrow corridors – more darkened doors and blind corners at every turn.

As they advance, they are seen firing off rounds at unseen targets.

Eventually.the clip shows that the soldiers entered a room in which the IDF said they discovered a cache of weapons.

‘Last week the fighters of the commando formation raided on foot in cooperation with armour, engineering and air support forces on the north of the Al-Shati camp,’ the IDF said in a statement accompanying the footage.’

It said the neighbourhood was ‘the most densely populated place the IDF has operated since the beginning of the fighting in Gaza.’

Meanwhile, Israeli forces also said they have recovered an arsenal of weapons belonging to Hamas hidden in various kindergarten and schools.

IDF officials said the haul included rocket propelled grenades, mortar bombs and other weapons were found in an operation in the northern Gaza Strip.

More video released by the Israeli forces showed a raid on the ‘Al-Carmel’ elementary school, in Gaza City where the found the haul was found.

Opening up with a shot of a classroom the camera then panned to a cupboard where a stack of RPG shells could clearly be seen.

Another clip showed how Israeli airforce jets were scrambled to target the area after the Hamas terrorists tried to escape and killed them.

The Al-Shati camp is around a mile away from Gaza City’s Al Shifa hospital.

There, Israeli special forces have been combing through the facility since Wednesday, and claim to have found evidence the hostages seized by Hamas in their October 7 attacks on south Israel were held there.

The military said troops had recovered the remains of kidnapped woman soldier Noa Marciano, 19, ‘from a structure adjacent to Al-Shifa hospital’.

It had confirmed her death this week, without giving the cause. Hamas said she had been killed in Israeli bombing.

On Thursday the army said soldiers near Al-Shifa found the body of another hostage. Yehudit Weiss, 65, who had been kidnapped from the kibbutz community of Beeri.

However, the Hamas-run health ministry said Friday that 24 patients have died in the past two day owing to power cuts.

‘Twenty-four patients in different departments have died over the last 48 hours as vital medical equipment has stopped functioning because of the power outage,’ said ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra.

On Monday, the ministry said 27 adult intensive care patients and seven babies had already died as Gaza’s largest hospital ran out of fuel to run its generators.

The health facility has become the focus of Israel’s war against Hamas, with Israel alleging Islamist fighters are using a tunnel complex beneath the hospital to stage their attacks. Hamas has repeatedly denied the claims.

The health ministry said the raid has destroyed medical services in the hospital, where the UN estimated 2,300 patients, staff and displaced Palestinians were sheltering before Israeli troops moved in.
