Lottery winner overjoyed after scooping second jackpot in just 13 months

A lottery ticket holder couldn't believe his luck after scooping a second jackpot within the space of just 14 months.

Canadian Antoine Beaini first won the Maxmillion LOTTO MAXprize of $1 million (around £640,000) in his homeland back in August 2021.

But if that wasn't enough, the Ontario resident achieved the same feat again earlier this month.

Mr Beaini, who hails from the town of Milton in the central-eastern state, first realised he had purchased the winning ticket as he checked the results of the draw on an official Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) app.

Speaking to the local media after receiving his cheque he said: "I couldn't believe it. I thought 'Again?'

"It was more shocking than the first win.

"I told my wife, and she was very happy!"

He added: "I want to make sure the next generation of my family is set up comfortably."

He now plans to use his winnings to take care of his family.

Incredibly, Mr Beaini isn’t the first person to win big on more than one occasion.

Previously, a French man – who wishes to remain anonymous – won €1 million in the space of two years (Novemner 2016 and June 2018).

Mathematicians have said that the odds of winning France's My Million twice was around one in 19 million – roughly the same odds as being struck by lightning twice according to bookmaker Paddy Power.
