A millionaire who lost everything before striking the jackpot again claims that “laziness and self-pity” are the only things that keep people poor.

Josh King – who is now worth more than $20million (£18.1m) – was branded a “stupid ADHD loser” and “most likely to end up homeless” at school.

The 24-year-old was never academic and dropped out of the University of California Irvine after just one term.

But he later proved his doubters wrong by becoming a self-made millionaire at just 20 after he invested heavily in the emerging eCommerce industry in 2016.

This wasn’t to last, and he lost his fortune in 2019 after he claims that he was betrayed by those closest to him who “destroyed his reputation and business almost overnight”.

Within the space of 45 days, he lost his house, car and everything he had worked so hard to create.

But determined not to let these wrongs keep him down, Josh – who is known as JetSet – worked “night and day” for two years.

He struck gold again in 2021 – and is now worth more than $20m after investing in blockchain and launching website NFTMagazine.com.

Josh – who lives in a multi-million dollar three-story beach mansion in Orange County, California – blames his “weak, lazy and self-pitying” mentality for his failures at school and believes shedding this allowed him to get rich and remake his fortune.

He said: “If you want to create the life of your dreams, you have to start by taking 100% responsibility for everything that happens to you.

“The first thing to do is get rid of any laziness and self-pity. That kind of mentality will just keep you poor – the sooner you realise that, the better.

“It is so easy to blame others for your misfortune. The key to success is taking responsibility and moving forward.”

Josh admits that he felt bitter after he lost his fortune, was robbed and had his house and car repossessed within the space of a few weeks.

But after turning to God, he learned to “let go and forgive” – something he credits for enabling him to restart on his journey in life and as an entrepreneur.

His wealth has since outstripped “anything he ever imagined” and he revealed that he is a much more content and peaceful person as a result.

He added: “I am just blessed and grateful that I used my tough times as a learning lesson. I spent two years isolated, but I was never alone.

“I got to know God and through his grace I stumbled across a book called Power Vs. Force that taught me how to let go and forgive.

“Manifesting goals and making a lot of money is the easiest thing ever once you decide to take ownership of your life instead of pointing the finger at others.”

The serial entrepreneur is now a two-time published author, internet marketer, NFT expert and host of a top business podcast The Dropout Degree Show.

“It’s honestly a good thing to be broke for a while, it humbles you, and once you make it out of the trenches it’s become that much better,” he said.

“You also find out who your real friends are when you’re broke. It becomes obvious who is a ride or die and who was just there for free dinners or to borrow your shiny expensive things.

“At the end of the day though, you shouldn’t allow yourself to stay broke. That’s just selfish. Everyone in your bloodline is counting on you.”
