Moment bus driver reported for dangerous overtake of cyclist on tight country road

  • Kevin Casey was almost hit cycling after being dangerously overtaken by a bus
  • The incident, which appeared to have occurred in Ireland, has been reported

This is the shocking moment a bus driver almost caused a cyclist to crash after overtaking him on a narrow country road.

The footage from a camera on the cyclist’s helmet shows the individual being overtaken by a large bus, with the driver running the rider out of room.

Kevin Casey posted the video to his account on X, formerly known as Twitter, and has reported the incident, which appeared to have occurred in Ireland.

The short clip, shows a reverse angle of the bus coming up behind Mr Casey, who is already on the left hand side of the road to allow any oncoming vehicles to pass by.

Ignoring the safe and sensible decision to slow down after seeing the cyclist, the bus driver speeds past Casey, almost running him out of road in the process.

The bus can then be seen speeding off into the distance after almost causing what could have been a nasty accident.

People have been left shocked by the irresponsible actions of the bus driver, who appeared to make little effort to slow down.

In reply, one user said: ‘Shockingly bad driving’.

Casey commented in reply: ‘Didn’t even get the chance to stop and pull in. As I looked back to see what was behind me the bus started passing. If he had given me a chance there was a place for me to pull in and stop at a house 200m up’.

Another added: ‘That’s horrific . Actually made me wince watching that’.

A third said: ‘JHC! Surely reported?’, with Mr Casey confirming that he had indeed reported the incident.

In reply, he stated: ‘Statement and video footage reported to Trafficwatch.’
