Moment cyclist cuts corner and smashes into another rider racing down a bike lane… so who do YOU think was at fault?

  • A video shows a high-speed collision between two cyclists in South London
  • The commuters collided as one bike cut a corner on Oxley Close on Wednesday
  • The footage shows other cyclist travelling at high speed before the bike smash

A homeowner captured the moment that two cyclists smashed into each other at high speed on a popular commuter route.

The footage shows one cyclist cutting a corner on Oxley Close, near the Old Kent Road, before colliding with another bike that was coming down the road very quickly on Wednesday morning.

Both cyclists are tipped into the road in the early morning collision and one bike is thrown into the air.

Other bikes can be seen throughout the video on the popular thoroughfare in South London, where there are often disputes between cyclists and motorists.

The cyclists smashed into each other in a high-speed crash after one commuter cut the corner and the other failed to see them pull out from behind a parked van

The first cyclist can be seen slowing down as they come off Rolls Road on to Oxley Close, where there is a sharp bend.

The commuter appears to cut the corner of the bend – which is a popular bike route – and subsequently runs straight into another cyclist, who was racing down the bike lane.

The rider of the second bike, who had been travelling quickly down the cycle route, does not see the first commuter pull out from behind a parked van until it is too late.

Both cyclists can be seen moving after thumping into each other in the collision, although the first commuter takes much longer to get up off the road

The crash was caught on camera by a homeowner. Other cyclists slowed down as they passed the incident

The crash left both commuters lying in the middle of the road. The first cyclist takes longer to stand as the second appears to check to see if they are injured.

The first cyclist can be seen moving but does not get up during the video.

Both bikes had lights on as it was still dark at the time of the collision but it is not clear if either of the cyclists were wearing helmets in the footage.

Other cyclists slow down as they cycle carefully past the debris in the road.

Collisions between cyclists and other commuters are common in the area, a homeowner said.
