This is the dramatic moment huge waves crash into two children walking along the seafront with their father as Storm Ciaran continues to batter the country.
Video shows the father and his two children casually strolling along the promenade in Folkestone, Kent, as the storm unleashes strong winds, huge waves and heavy rain across the UK.
The ‘oblivious’ father has been slammed online after shocking footage shows waves smashing into his two children and at one point knocking one of them off their feet.
As the enormous waves crash into the coast, the two children run off ahead as their father shows little sense of urgency to protect the youngsters.
The children are then drenched by a wave and disappear in the footage – but when they reappear unscathed, the father continues to walk at slow pace, seemingly unfazed.

After coming out from the first wave safely, one of the children is then swept off their feet by the sheer power of another wave and crashes down onto the floor.
Again, the father continues to walk at a normal pace, completely ignoring the fact his children are perilously close to falling into the sea.

The footage has since gone viral and social media users have blasted the parent as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘stupid’.
One user said: Why would you ever take your kids along there n endanger their lives.’
Another fumed: ‘How f***ing irresponsible.’
A third sarcastically hailed him as ‘father of the year’, while a fourth added: ‘Totally oblivious – this is stupidity at its best.’
It comes as a rare red warning was in force in Jersey yesterday after gale-force winds and torrential rain wreaked havoc in the southern England and other parts of the UK.
Schools were shut, flights to the mainland cancelled and people forced to evacuate from their homes after being battered by the powerful gales.
While the worst of the storm may be over in the Channel Islands, the south coast of England is bracing for more heavy rain and flooding on Saturday after the Met Office issued a new 19-hour weather warning.

The alert now covers south London, Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire and will run from 5am until midnight.
More than 340 areas of Britain are on flood watch after the country was battered by 104mph winds and up to three inches of rain during the storm yesterday.
The father in Kent is not the only person who has been caught out by the enormous waves which have come with Storm Ciaran.
Yesterday, footage emerged of an ‘idiot’ tourist taking a selfie on a stone pier who was swept off her feet by a colossal wave – as the coastguard warned no photo was worth dying for during the storm.
The alert was issued after a number of people taking selfies were spotted strolling along the East Pier in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Other footage showed another ‘idiot’ who tried to walk along a seafront promenade as Storm Ciaran smashed 25-foot waves was knocked off his feet.
Dramatic footage filmed yesterday afternoon shows powerful waves exploding over the top of the seafront railings on Dover’s Marine Parade during the height of the storm as gusts of 100mph winds were recorded.

In the clip a man can be seen standing on the promenade next to a public toilet block looking out to sea.
Seconds later, a colossal wave is seen to crash over the top of the seafront railings and submerge the tarmac below, instantly knocking the male bystander over in the process.
The man is then sent flying through the air and thrown onto his back as he is dragged along with the powerful current.
Fortunately, after a short but nail-biting struggle, the man is able to regain his feet and slide to safety towards the railing and escaped unharmed.
The video recorded by Tim Smithen, who owns Rebels Coffee Shop located on Dover’s Marine Parade shows the extremities of Storm Ciaran.
The father-of-three, 41, said he had never seen waves this high before on the Dover seafront and said his shop and the man got a ‘battering’ from the storm.
After sharing the clip online, many commenters branded the bloke in the footage an ‘idiot’ and ‘lucky’ to be alive – while some suggested the clip looked like a candidate for ‘Jackass 5’.
Tim, from Dover in Kent, said: ‘I’ve never seen waves this high come over this part of Dover beach before.
‘They were so high that it was bombarding the side of our coffee shop and damaged the shop’s fascia but there was thankfully no damage inside and flooding was minimal.
‘The waves that crashed over were definitely higher than our building.
‘I couldn’t believe it. There were people walking around taking photos and I just thought if these waves knocked you down they could wipe you out.
‘It didn’t seem real when we saw someone so badly knocked off their feet. Thankfully afterwards he came around the back of the coffee shop and I was able to make sure he was okay.
‘He was a young guy and we made sure he was okay and he went off with his friends.
‘I think his friends said he was stupid for going so close to the storm.
‘We could hear and feel the waves hitting the coffee shop wall whilst we were inside. It was crazy loud like the walls were going to be smashed in.
‘The coffee shop and the guy definitely got a battering from the storm.’
One social media user said: ‘What an idiot, imagine if he had gone over, then risk the lives of the RNLI to rescue him.’
Another added: ‘Jackass 5 right there.’
A third said: ‘Why are people laughing? This is how someone died in Scotland last week.’
