Talk about a combined harvester! Moment tractor smashes into two parked cars outside woman’s house

This is the moment a tractor crashed into two parked cars outside a woman’s house leaving both vehicles ‘written off’. 

Vanessa Penniston, 52, from Amber Hill, Lincolnshire, was spending her Sunday evening with a friend in her conservatory when they heard an ‘almighty crash’ at around 8.30pm.

The pair went outside to find that their cars – a Suzuki Vitara and Ford Fiesta – had been ‘completely written off’. 

The wing mirrors had been ripped off and the doors were highly damaged. Ms Penniston’s Suzuki had gone through her iron fencing and almost through her kitchen wall.

She said: ‘My car was under my kitchen window. It had gone through metal, heavy, strong gates that had been there for hundreds of years.

‘That fence has been there since the house was built. The damage is immense. My car went straight through the fence. It was at the front door.

‘If I had a wooden fence, that car would have been in my house. The speed that tractor must have been going.’

CCTV footage shows the tractor approaching the two cars. It hit the Ford first, which then knocked the vehicle back with force. 

The tractor then smashed into the Suzuki which could be seen flying through Ms Penniston’s fence. 

She works as a domestic cleaner and says the incident means she won’t be able to get to work for days, which is costing her earnings. 

Ms Penniston also keeps animals, including dogs and chickens, and said she was just relieved that they weren’t caught up in the carnage.

Although she has not had any other issues in the eight years she’s lived there, she said she wanted to see more tractor drivers take accountability for the speed they travel on rural roads. 

Ms Penniston’s friend, who did not wish to be named, said she was in shock.

‘You don’t park up somewhere and expect your vehicle to just be written off like that,’ she said.

‘That road is very long so I can understand people going quickly down it, but they need to be a bit more aware going past built-up houses.

‘One of us could have been going out to the car, and it was only half a foot from going through the house anyway.’ 

Her friend added that, despite the chaos, she was relieved that no one was hurt.

She said: ‘We’re both okay and we’re both insured, so we can replace the vehicles.’ Ms Penniston reported the incident to Lincolnshire Police, who confirmed the details.

A spokesperson for the force said: ‘We received a call at 8.25pm on Sunday, October 8, reporting a collision in Sutterton Drove in Amber Hill. 

‘It involved a blue New Holland tractor and two cars: a black Ford Fiesta and a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara.

‘Both cars suffered damage, as did a fence.’ It is understood that the force is not investigating further.’
